Our Buildings

The WVACS Fieldstation consists of two buildings, creatively named the Small Building and the Large Building. They are situated side-by-side atop several ridge-top acres near Renick in Greenbrier County, W. Va. The property includes a very large yard on which 100 people can camp. A large parking area can accommodate at least 30 vehicles.

Both buildings sleep 40 people and include two full kitchens (with pots, pans, plates, silverware, etc.) with running water. Both buildings have a hot-water heaters to supply hot showers to a full bath, two bathrooms, and two shower rooms. The water is drinkable, as it is water from our well.

Each building uses wood stoves for heating in the wintertime. Wood is stored on the back porch of the Small Building.

The sleeping accommodations include a bunk room with bunk beds (no mattresses) in the Big Building and a loft encompassing the entire second floor of the Small Building furnished with cots. The grounds include the Vermillion Pavilion, which is a porch off of the Big Building that has two fire pits, a survey course, a DistoX calibration area, and a rappel tower. Our basement is our own WVACS Cave on the property! Buckeye Creek Cave is nearby and accessible from the bottom of the ridge.

All guests require a member sponsor on all occasions. Members pay $8 per night ($15 per weekend) and guests pay $10 per night. Everyone pays $1 per shower to help defray the cost of our well water. Quite a bargain by any standards!
